Demonstrate your initiative and strengthen your career profile by becoming a Mentor.

Becoming a mentor is a great way to contribute to the community.

Being a mentor can be a wonderfully fulfilling experience. As a mentor you will have the opportunity to reflect on your learnings and share your experiences with motivated young professionals, enabling them to learn, grow and reach their full potential.

To become a mentor you will need to be an employed finance professional with at least 1 + years of relevant experience.

Your commitment is spread across six-1-hour informal meetings with a young professional (mentee) where you discuss their career plans, career aspirations and challenges they may be facing in a confidential setting. This is aimed at helping mentees transition into more senior roles.

Mark Thomas

Managing Director, Mark Thomas Financial Services Pty Ltd

Looking back on my 20 years career in the investment industry I knew I had to become a mentor; because I wish I had one! Someone who had taken the time to be a confidant, a sounding board, and a guide. That’s what being a FINSIA mentor is for me. As the mentor I am the sounding board, the devil’s advocate, the career strategist, and the guide.

I have been mentoring for FINSIA for over three years and have helped 10 people to advance their career in finance. This is an honorary role where, for me, the satisfaction is I have made a positive contribution to someone’s future.
