While any member at the level of Affiliate membership or higher can be put forward, the criteria for nominations should take into account a level of seniority in the profession and must be supported by two Fellows or one Senior Fellow of FINSIA.
Recent members who have been awarded the SF FIN post nominal include Judo Banker founder Joseph Healy, Reserve Bank Board member Elana Rubin, NAB chief executive Ross McEwan, and Revolut CEO Matt Baxby.
Senior leaders from across financial services who are SF FINs include Australia's longest-serving Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick, APRA Chair Wayne Byres, CBA chief executive Matt Comyn, NAB Chair Phil Chronican, business leader David Gonski AC and former NAB chief executive Don Argus AC.
FINSIA CEO and Managing Director Yasser El-Ansary said: “This is a really great opportunity to shine a light on the professional contribution members have made to financial services and the community over the years.
“FINSIA Senior Fellows are rightly held in the highest esteem. It’s an accolade that won’t have come easily and will represent an impeccable career as a professional. But we know there are many people who could and should be put forward as recognition for their achievements.
“So I would urge those members who are eligible to make nominations to come forward with their suggestions before the end of the month.”
The criteria for the SF FIN post nominals that is “FINSIA’s most prestigious award” is that it is for those “Senior members of the Industry who have not only achieved academically in their career but to those who have contributed to the advancement of the finance industry and to FINSIA.
“The degree and value of the member’s achievement and contribution are the primary considerations, rather than their length of membership,” it states.
“Generally, however we would expect that a member would need around fifteen years of membership to meet the necessary level of contribution and seniority in the profession.
“In addition, the Regional Council will consider the member’s level of achievement and contribution relative to that of others in the field.
“The designation is an honorary title which recognises those who have achieved leadership roles and contributed to FINSIA, the advancement of the finance industry, and the broader community. Applications for Senior Fellow are assessed by your peers.
“Once your document has been received, your application will be first presented to the appropriate Regional Council and then, if ratified, presented to the FINSIA board for final decision.”
