Her incredibly wide experience in banking goes across areas such as customer service, implementation of policies and guidelines, audit and compliance, business development, credit, risk and branch operations.
She has also provided technical support to 88 branches and represented her former employer in committee meetings related to banking products and their potential impacts on customers and the market.
Now, Rinakshi is looking for a position in an Australian bank in the spheres of customer service, risk, credit and settlement.
Drawing on deep experience
In India, Rinakshi’s work encompassed a broad range of competencies because in the country’s banking system, roles tend to cross over a variety of different responsibilities.
“You have to do many things. But the banking system in Australia is different, in that each role requires a specialist skill set and certifications,” she says.
Rinakshi explains being a FINSIA member offers an invaluable platform for professional development, given the extensive suite of professional development courses and micro-credentials available.
“I joined FINSIA to improve my credibility as a professional banker and for specialisations and certifications in banking. Being a member allows me to improve my understanding of the Australian financial services sector,” she says.
“Plus, all the advantages of membership help me to enhance my skills and knowledge and benefit from new knowledge on industry trends. This really helps in my professional development and growth.”
Rinakshi says being a part of the FINSIA community brings many opportunities, aside from career development and professional growth.
“I have access to resources such as learning materials, newsletters, articles, webinars and events, which is great, given the many differences between the local and Indian banking systems,” she explains.
FINSIA also offers many opportunities for networking and the chance to connect with peers in the banking sector.
Additionally, membership of FINSIA gives her the tools to better understand all the challenges in banking. These include managing customer expectations, digitisation and automation, regulatory compliance and identifying and mitigating emerging risks.
“Joining FINSIA has allowed me to learn about industry strengths and best practices in Australia. Through training and certification, I am also more aware of regulatory requirements, insights I can use in my professional career.”
Outside work, Rinakshi likes spending time with family, visiting new places, cooking and reading books. “I also like baking cookies and cakes for my daughter,” she says.
