FINSIA, in partnership with the Australian Property Institute (API), recently held one of our signature events, Economic Indicators 2024, in Brisbane on Friday 9th February.
The event aimed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the prevailing economic trends and their impact on the financial and property sectors.
At the forefront of the discussion were two distinguished panellists, HSBC’s Chief Economist, Paul Bloxham, and Brisbane City Council Civic Cabinet Chair, Cr Fiona Cunningham. Both experts delved into the complex interplay between economic indicators and market dynamics. Bloxham provided valuable insights into the global economic climate and its localised impacts, while Cunningham’s expertise in urban governance provided a nuanced understanding of the local implications of economic shifts.
Throughout the event, attendees were treated to rich discussions, ranging from macroeconomic forecasts to micro-level analyses of property markets. Bloxham’s elucidation of key economic indicators illuminated the audience on potential future trajectories, while Cunningham’s perspectives on housing affordability and liveability underscored the importance of holistic approaches to urban planning.
The synergy between the panellists fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas, allowing attendees to explore multifaceted perspectives on the economic challenges and opportunities Australia is facing. From discussions on interest rates to projects on housing demand, each session provided practical takeaways that resonated with stakeholders across industries.
As the event drew to a close, attendees departed with a newfound understanding of the economic forces shaping the financial and property markets in 2024. This event not only provided a platform for knowledge exchange but also served as a catalyst for informed decision-making in the ever-evolving economic landscape.
